It wouldn’t be the holiday season in the Old Northeast without the annual HONNA members party at the Old Northeast Tavern, 7th Avenue NE and 2nd Street NE. About 100 revelers turned out to enjoy pizza, salad, soft drinks, and cookies (and the cash bar 😉).
It’s always a great time to gather and share stories from the year and talk about what to expect in the neighborhood next year. There was talk about HONNA and its residents successfully resisting a developer’s desire to install a Panera Bread with drive-through and destroy a historic home and replace it with a parking lot. Development incursion in the Old Northeast is always a popular topic.
As usual, attendees were generous with their donations to HONNA’s Candlelight Tour benefitting organization. This year, CASA (Community Action Stops Abuse) requested $25 gift cards so the children they help could select Christmas gifts of their choice. Party attendees contributed $750 worth of gift cards.
If you aren’t a member, it’s easy to join and support the neighborhood we love…HONNA.org.
