Meeting Will Feature Board Elections and St. Pete Urban Forester and Sustainability Coordinator
The HONNA 2022 Annual Meeting will be held Monday evening, November 14 from 7-9 at Westminster Palms on Beach Drive. HONNA residents are urged to attend and vote on the slate of candidates for next year’s HONNA Board of Directors. Board members are residents’ neighborhood “stewards” and are responsible for representing the neighborhood at City Hall as well as promoting and producing several dozen annual events including the annual Candlelight Tour of Homes and next Spring’s Art in the Garden Tour. The Board also leads the effort to preserve and protect our historic context which is increasingly under pressure from developers.
The meeting’s guest speaker will be Dean Hay, the city’s Urban Forester and Sustainability Coordinator. He will be addressing three significant subjects impacting the neighborhood’s beautiful tree canopy:
- St. Petersburg’s tree inventory program
- The Urban Forestry Committee’s new Citizen Forester program
- Tree planting opportunities via the Community Services Neighborhood Partnership Matching Grant
Dean will do a Q & A session following his presentation so come prepared with your canopy-related questions.
